News & Style Update

March 8th, 2010

wk2blog

Besides the fact the weather has been beautiful here in Ontario this week, I want to update Dress911 girls on some news in this blog.  A lot have asked about re-stocking items that are sold out in their size.  Dress911 is a small store and we only order each style in small quantity but when some items is sold out quickly we do our best to re-stock them if there is a lot of demand, but quite often our suppliers sell out quickly too and this can’t be done…  As well,we prefer to introduce new styles whenever possible to keep the looks exciting and fresh.  Later this week we will be introducing ten new styles of perfect dresses for spring and a lot more very cute necklaces, similar style to our super popular (sold out) Free Birds necklace, are coming to Dress911 this week! ; be sure to watch for them.  Also we are working on bringing in some casual boy blazers as some commented on them after seeing one on a model we posted on Facebook.

If you’re on the website you may now notice a small green icon on the bottom left corner that says “Certified Green”.  This is new and it signifies Dress911’s enrolment in this great program from Co2Stats that helps make the operation of our website more energy efficient.

And final, don’t forget to participate in “Guess Me & Get Me” on Tuesday at 9:00pm EST to try to win a dress. For more information see the “Contests” page.

Have fun, and thanks for all the lovely messages and emails,

Lana ^^

New contest: “Guess Me & Get Me!”

March 1st, 2010

winnerDress911 is excited to announce a fun new contest for all our lovely fans; “Guess Me & Get Me!” On the 11th day of every month at around 9:00pm Eastern Time, we will post a picture of a dress from our website. The picture will be distorted or in disguise, the first Fan to post the correct name of the dress on Facebook will win that dress in size of their choice. So, don’t forget to mark March 11th on your calendar as that will be the date of the first contest. We will still continue to have our regular end-of-month draw for a free dress for Facebook fan’s or Dress911News subscribers.

I’d also like to congratulate TashaLee from Calgary, who was this month’s winner of the free dress draw; next draw March 31st. And most importantly, we are so proud of our Canadian Olympic team who rocked the world and set a record for gold medals! And respect goes to our American brothers and sisters who also set a record for total medals. Again, thanks for everyone’s nice comments and recommendations for Dress911, I always love hearing for you. Have fun, Lana ^^

50s

First, thanks for all the wonderful messages and emails this past week.  Today, I thought that I’d warm everyone’s day by showing off some not-so-square dresses.   Many of you have asked, and after searching through the best designers, I’m happy to annouce that Dresss911 will be offering some amazing vintage/retro dresses inspired by fashion of the 50’s.  Priced around $70-$80, these truly unique pieces will amaze you and have you chirping all spring long! I’d love to hear what you think, so leave a message here or on FB.

Some of you have been disappointed that a dress that you wanted sold out very quickly in your size.  Because Dress911 is very small and with limited resources, we can only place small orders for dresses.  To make it worse, many styles cannot be re-stocked as the supplier only makes small batches as well.  On the upside, however, you don’t have to worry about seeing someone wear the same dress at the party!  If you’re thinking about a particular dress, you can always email and ask how many we have left in your size.

Stay warm, have fun, summer is coming!  Lana ^^

Valentines Day Hugs & Kisses

February 15th, 2010

valentines day chocolate heart 2 ozxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo … I hope that Valentines Day saw you eating lots of dark chocolate (good for your heart!) and receiving lots of Valentines hugs and wishes!!!
Though February is the shortest month, it really feels like the longest month. But have no fear coz the warm weather is coming and you’ll be able to show off your new summer dresses, unless you are heading south for March Break and you’ll be sporting them next month while the rest of us freeze.
A few have asked about us opening up physical stores. I’d love too but it’s much too expensive and our prices would have to go up. Thanks you all the wonderful messages and I send everyone a big Valentines hug and kiss! Don’t forget, next draw is February 28th, just become a Facebook fan of Dress911 or sign up for Dress911News.  Lana ^^

Journey of the cute little dresses!

February 7th, 2010

kikis_delivery_service_profilelargeI’d like to start with the result of January’s lucky dress draw: a lovely Bethany M.of UWO was the winner and chose the retro inspired Roma Holiday dress, good choice! Next draw is 28th of February, again the winner will get to choose any dress under $40.00 (US$) that we have in stock.

It’s getting cosier on Dress911.com as we are getting more flowery-summery dresses and skirts in stock. Sometimes, I forgot what a huggggeeee country Canada & USA are! I see new and old fans posting on Dress911’s FB wall and think of how many of you are thousands miles away! I came from Thailand and it’s not even half a size of Ontario.

It put smiles on my face to picture that those lovely dresses get to travel such a long distance and will be adored by the girls from many part of North America. Now Dress911 is offering “Tops & Bottoms” and more accessories such as leggings, belts and girls handbags … etc,. We are continuing to improve Dress911 so that you can always find something unique, something that suits your dressing mood!   Lana^^

New3dress

I’m so excited about the new dresses that we received this week and are now carrying.  Many of them are 80s inspired, like the Center Stage Dress, 2010 Retro dress, and the Art Project Dress.  I was growing up in the 80s and remember watching my mom do her make up (big thick eyebrows and purple eyeliner!!!).  Everything then was big, bold and vibrant from the big round glasses, big padded shoulder dresses, high waist pants, to the oversized jewellery.  I swear that I had a jumpsuit that looked almost like our Cotton Candy Jumpsuit when I was 8!  However, variety is what we are offering to our customers because every girl is unique.

Its still January and freezing here in Southwestern Ontario! But Valentines Day is coming up and to make it extra special it is also Chinese New Year on the same day; enter the Year of the Tiger.  Both my husband and I are Dragon’s so we’re looking forward for this year (Year of the Ox) to end and for Tiger Year to begin.   I hope that you like our new selection and I always love to hear feedback.

Have fun!

Lana^^

New Stock Arriving and Free Draw Update

January 10th, 2010

dress_shopHi girls,
Firstly, I hope that everyone who decided on a New Year’s Resolution is faithfully following their new program ;D
I received many emails wondering when our new stock will be arriving and if presently sold out items will be restocked. :-) Happy news…. Many more cute dresses are on their way! Over the next two weeks, Dress911 will be introducing nearly 30 exciting new dresses and accessories so be sure to check back often! Sad news… at this point it looks like the Pretty in Pink dress will not be re-stocked anytime soon because the supplier is out of stock, we’ll keep you updated. :-(

For the free dress draw at the end of the month-January, we will have a little different format than previously. Instead, of choosing between three available dresses the lucky winner will be able to choose any of our fabulous dress up to a value of $40! Isn’t this draw even more exciting?  So, be sure to Follow us on Facebook or sign up for Dress911 news, or do both?, for your chance to win.

Have fun and please email or call me if you have any questions.  Lana^^

Spring Roll 911:East Meets West

December 24th, 2009

Merry Merry Christmas everyone ^^

Since it’s Christmas and it’s (almost) about eating and gifts ;-) so I’m not going to write about clothing …

I am so ready for the big feast!
Though, I have to admit I’m not a fan of the big bird; no offense to any turkeys that may be reading. Every X-mas, there’s always left over food, especially left over cold turkey.
Here’s a way to turn that poor tasteless turkey into something hot and yummy, and of course, a little different. (sound indie?) I hope you’ll love this recipe.

Spring rolls 911! ta daaa ….

You’ll need the following… (which most are the left over from the party, anyways)
-Mom’s left over turkey, shredded or stringed.
-Spring roll wraps (medium sheets preferable)
-1/2 teaspoons of curry powder (optional but recommended!)
-Green onion, chopped.
-Potato, cut into small cubes
-An egg, beaten, will be used to seal spring roll wraps
-2-3 table spoons of gravy for flavour
-Pepper and salt

Actions:
1. Thaw and prepare the spring roll wrap: follow the package’s instruction;
2. Mix all ingredients above in a bowl;
3. Wrap! (See how? at the package’s instruction, it’s super easy). * use the beaten egg to seal the edge of the wrap, just like glue
4. Pan fry or deep fry until turn golden, use medium heat;
5. Serve with plum sauce or warm gravy as dipping sauce;
6. You must eat these spring rolls with friends and family! I know they’re yummy, but don’t be Scrooge!

springrolls

Congratulations, now you’re a new Chef911!

Lana ^^
Merry Christmas & Happy 2010 to you all …
I’ll be here New Year’s Eve drawing the winner for our Free Dress.

Tight(s) Time!

happylegs

Growing up in “one season all year round” country like myself, I find it is much more exciting to have the changing seasons and the changing wardrobe that goes along with it!!! Though I had the chance to be in Europe in the winter, it isn’t the same as here. But, one thing I have seen that’s common on both sides of the Atlantic is the wearing of tights in winter. Tights (and leggings) are a fall, winter and early spring accessory or necessity! That’s 3/4 times of the year!!! Believe it or not, the first time i wore tights it was on my graduation day! Now I love wearing tights and could not stop buying them!  They’re so comfortable, they make your legs appear slimmer, longer and sexier! Every woman should have at least a pair of opaque black tights and a pair of semi sheer black tights because they are classic and versatile. You can always count on them!

Tights come in every color, every texture, fishnet, lace, cotton, knit, every pattern and prints, so have as many tights as your legs desire and wear them all through this colorless winter! Personally, I prefer plain colored tights because they are so easy to wear and they tend to be stronger. When wearing prints tights, I choose an outfit with minimum or plain color to show them off. When the tights are a solid vibrant color-there are many fun ways to wear colored tights! but I like wearing my mustard tights with opposite color clothing, such as purple or plum (and it always made my mother in law’s eyes pop!). With black tights, I can emphasize on my dress or foot ware.

You may have different tips and awesome way to wear your tights. Whatever style suits you, let tights keep your legs warm, happy and pretty this winter!

Lana ^-^
